Hello, I’m Jim Glover, That Branding Guy, for Once a Day Marketing™. On our radio show Ask Those Branding Guys, we discussed branding and marketing of a new Santa Fe Theatre.

Joining us on the show were Melissa Chambers and Madeline McKenna of the Adobe Rose Theatre located in the Santa Fe, New Mexico. Adobe Rose opened in January of 2016 and is a professional non-profit theatre started with the mission of showcasing local talent and fulfilling the need for more performance space in Santa Fe.

Adobe Rose is located on Siler Road in a former door factory. They chose the location for its appeal to locals, convenience to the south side and more parking. The area is becoming a beacon for the performing arts so the location is a great fit.

The name of the theatre is a tribute to The Rose Shakespearian Theatre in London and brings the traditions of theatre to the adobe style of Santa Fe. In addition to the theatre venue, Adobe Rose holds classes and is available to rent by other theatre companies. An art exhibit is currently on display in the café and all types of art and talent are welcome.

Adobe Rose is committed to featuring plays that will make the audience think. Visitation is exceeding expectations with more attendees in the house each evening than the city average. This is attributed to the high quality of performances that have so far graced the stage.

Adobe Rose is working to break away from the perception that theatre is for older people by focusing on bringing in a younger audience. To achieve this goal they are reaching out to high school drama classes and recent college graduates through. Special ticket prices are offered for Thursday night performances and free tickets for high school tickets on opening weekend.

Branding challenges include motivating people to get out and see a live performance rather than staying at home and watch something on television. Their tip for other businesses starting a new brand – create your social media presence as soon as possible to build anticipation.

Enjoy the show.
