Once a Day Marketing™ featured video blog: Branding vs. Marketing – No Chicken and Egg

Hello, I’m Jim Glover, That Branding Guy, for Once a Day Marketing™. Today is Smart Monday and we taking a look at branding vs. marketing.

Last week I had the opportunity to present to the New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce in Albuquerque. It was a great experience and I enjoyed sharing with the members the importance of a brand being #1 in the minds of target customers. We also discussed branding, brand positioning, mindshare and market share.

It’s clear to me that most people understand marketing but have a harder time defining branding. Branding is the process of ensuring your desired brand identity (how you want your brand to be perceived) aligns with your customers’ brand image (how they actually perceive your brand). Marketing is the consistent sharing of your messaging that conveys the unique and compelling nature of the offering.

Branding always precedes marketing and will lead to customers having a clear understanding of your brand and thinking about your product or service when it’s time to make a purchase.

Once a Day Marketing™ positions brands to become #1 in the minds of target customers. Visit our website at www.onceadaymarketing.com.
